james: i have to say that i really wasn't looking forward to the feature interview with the idol winner because you know, it just isn't my scene. i am of course happy for the winner and all the contestants, but i just didn't get into that. i started to listen anyway to the interview and thought it was nice because the amys got along well, but i tell ya, once she started talking about her life and her family and coming out, all of a sudden i became a big fan! a lot of times we hear about coming out experiences that were easy or went surprisingly well, and families turned out to know and be totally cool, but it helps both to hear from others who've come out after their early 20s or whatever, and whose coming out did not go all that well. these people, like amy kelly, who keep on living and loving their families in spite of the difficult coming out, are true inspirations to maybe some of us who are still struggling with these issues. great choice to everyone who voted on this new gay idol -- she really is one. congratulations amy kelly -- now how do we get her a girlfriend???
